At a glance

At a glance: what a software house in Rome and its province does

  • Who we are: a software house in the province of Rome, developing software since 2007. We are not a web agency and we do not resell licences; if you want to frame the trade, here is what a software house does and how to choose one.
  • What we do: custom management systems, web apps, systems integration and SaaS platforms. The software follows your real process, not the other way round.
  • Where we work: in person in Rome and its province, remotely across Lazio and Italy. The method is the same everywhere.
  • What it costs: from €50 to €180 per hour, VAT excluded, depending on the type of work. The hours are estimated in discovery before you spend a single euro; the factors that determine them are in the guide to development costs.
  • The code is yours: we deliver the complete source code, Git repository and documentation. No lock-in, you can change supplier at any time.
  • The proof: we build our own products, such as AraLith COS, with the same method. In the MedicHub case study, the dental practice management system we designed and built, you will find SERP screenshots, the citation in Google's AI Overview and the real costs, receipts included.

Software development in Rome and its province: what we build

We are in the province of Rome. We also work remotely across Lazio and Italy. Since 2007 we have built software in very different sectors: invoicing, bookkeeping, dental practices, event management, condominiums, road haulage, ERP and patents. Different processes, the same method. If you are looking for custom management software in Rome and its province, the dedicated page explains how we build it.

  • Custom management systems

The software follows the process you already have, instead of forcing you to change it. Master data, roles, permissions, printouts and deadlines the way you actually use them.

  • Web apps and portals

Reserved areas for customers, suppliers or agents, accessible from a browser without installing anything. Useful when the people who need them are not in the office.

  • Systems integration

Getting the management system to talk to the website, electronic invoicing, the CRM or the warehouse, so the same data stops being re-keyed by hand three times.

  • Websites and e-commerce

Over 500 websites and e-commerce sites delivered since 2007. It is the most routine part of the work, and it is also why we know how to estimate the timing.

  • Technical partner for agencies

We have worked with 5 communication and marketing agencies: browser games, landing pages for loyalty campaigns, websites of every kind. As a subcontractor, within your timelines and in confidence towards the end client.

  • Taking over someone else's project

Existing software left without anyone to maintain it. We start by reading the code and saying honestly whether it is worth taking over or rebuilding.

The local area

Is it worth choosing a software house nearby?

Choosing a software house nearby is worth it above all at two moments of the project: the initial analysis, done by watching how you work, and training the people who will use the software. For everything else, what matters more is that a single technical point of contact follows the project from analysis to delivery, not the distance in kilometres.

Illustration of two people shaking hands in front of the project plan, with one person on the phone and one ticking off a phase

The initial analysis, watching how you work

Discovery works better among the people who will use the software: you see the sticky notes on the monitor, the notebook next to the keyboard, the step nobody mentions because they take it for granted. In Rome and its province we hold this meeting in person.

Training for the people who will use it every day

Explaining a new management system to people who will use it eight hours a day works much better in the room where they work than on a video call. It is the second moment when being half an hour away makes a concrete difference.

For everything else, distance does not matter

Development, interim releases and support work well remotely too, and that is how we follow clients outside the region. Proximity alone says nothing about the quality of the software: what matters is knowing who will follow the project and who will write the code.

How to get started, in practice

Four steps before you spend a single euro. If you are in Rome or its province we do the second one in person, otherwise by video call: that is the only difference.

01

You send us a couple of lines

From the form above or on WhatsApp

All we need is how you manage the process today and what is not working. You do not need a specification: if you already had the specifications ready, half of our work would already be done.

02

Free technical call

In person in Rome and its province, or by video

An hour to work out whether custom software really makes sense for you. You get an honest opinion even when the answer is no: if there is a ready-made product that covers your case, we tell you and point you to it.

03

Discovery and quote

Estimated hours, not figures based on gut feeling

We map the real process, roles, integrations and data to migrate. From that comes the estimate of the hours, with the hourly rate for the type of work, and the list of what pushes it up or down. The requirements document stays yours even if the project then does not go ahead.

04

We start from the most critical piece

First the process that is costing you the most

That way you have something usable early instead of waiting for final delivery, and we correct course while it is still cheap. The technical point of contact stays the same for the whole duration of the project.

The complete process, from delivery of the source code to ongoing maintenance, is described on the custom software development page. The same method also produces free tools that we are the first to use, such as ReBrandy, to change the logo and letterhead in all your Word documents after a change of company name.

How much does it cost to have custom software developed?

It is the first question everyone asks us, and rightly so. The honest answer is that you know the hourly rate straight away, based on the type of work, while nobody can tell you the total before understanding the process.

€50–180 / hour

Transparent rates by type of work · VAT excluded

  • €50–60 per hour · Execution on specifications already defined: front-end, templates, websites, routine maintenance
  • €65–85 per hour · Application development: management systems, web apps, standard integrations
  • €90–120 per hour · Qualified design and development: multi-tenant SaaS, critical integrations such as SdI and ERP, modernisation of legacy systems
  • €130–180 per hour · Advanced technical consulting: enterprise architecture, AI and agents, technical due diligence

The first technical call is free. What changes from project to project is how many hours are needed and at what level: we estimate them together in discovery, before you spend a single euro. Rates valid until 31 December 2027.

What pushes the hours up or down

  • How many processes it covers: a single workflow done well costs much less than a management system that replaces everything in one go.
  • Integrations: getting the software to talk to systems already in use depends on how well those systems are documented.
  • Historical data to migrate: recovering it is part of the project, and its cost depends on how it has been kept so far.
  • Users and roles: different permissions per department are extra work compared with a single access level.
  • Regulatory constraints: traceability, retention, sensitive data. Where they exist, they have to be designed in from the start.
  • The mobile app: only if it is really needed. A web app often meets the same need at a lower cost.

Frequently asked questions about our software house in the province of Rome

A software house is a company that specialises in designing and developing custom software for other companies. Unlike a web agency (which builds websites) or a licence reseller (which sells ready-made products), a software house analyses the client's specific process and writes the code from scratch, adapting it to real needs. The result is software that follows the way you work, not the other way round.

Four concrete criteria matter when choosing a software house:

  • A transparent process: the software house must be able to explain how it estimates costs and timing before asking for a deposit.
  • Ownership of the code: the source code must stay yours, written into the contract, with the repository handed over at the end.
  • Experience in your sector: ask whether they have built something similar and read the case study, not just the client logos.
  • Continuity: documented, delivered code, so that maintenance does not depend on a single person.

Developing custom management software for SMEs has four phases. First comes discovery: one or two meetings to map processes, roles and existing data, with no code written. Then the estimate: a document with the expected hours, the breakdown into sprints and the costs. Then development in short iterations, with frequent demos to adjust course. Finally release and training: we deliver the code, train the users and remain available for ongoing maintenance.

The hourly rate depends on the type of work: €50–60 per hour for execution on specifications already defined (front-end, templates, websites, maintenance), €65–85 per hour for application development (management systems, web apps, standard integrations), €90–120 per hour for qualified design and development (multi-tenant SaaS architectures, critical integrations such as SdI and ERP, legacy modernisation) and €130–180 per hour for advanced technical consulting (enterprise architecture, AI, due diligence). VAT excluded, rates valid until 31 December 2027. The total cost depends on how many hours are needed, and the hours are estimated in the discovery phase before the quote; the first technical call is free. They vary with the number of processes covered, integrations with systems already in use, historical data migration, users and roles, and any regulatory constraints.

Software houses of different sizes operate in Lazio, from national organisations with offices in Rome to independent firms. AraLith is a software house in the province of Rome, active since 2007: it meets companies in Rome and its province in person and works remotely across Italy. When choosing, concrete criteria matter more than kilometres: a transparent process, ownership of the code, experience in the sector and continuity.

Our operating base is in the province of Rome. We work with companies and SMEs in Rome and its province, where meetings take place in person, and with clients across Italy remotely. The working method is the same: the only difference is where we meet the first time.

AraLith also works in the rest of Lazio: besides the companies in Rome and its province, which we meet in person, we follow clients across Italy remotely. If you are looking for a software house in Lazio outside the province of Rome, the initial technical call takes place by video, with the same method and the same technical point of contact.

AraLith develops both management systems and websites and e-commerce. Since 2007 we have delivered over 500 websites and e-commerce sites and at least 10 custom management systems in very different sectors: invoicing, accounting, dental practices, event management, condominium administration, road haulage, ERP and patent search. If your project is a website, we say so: not everything needs custom software.

Meeting in person before signing is possible, and it is what we recommend if you are in Rome or its province. The initial technical call is free and with no obligation, and seeing first-hand the process you want to fix brings out details nobody mentions on a video call. If you are further away it takes place by video, without the project suffering.

We have been developing software since 2007. Over this period we have been through several technology generations and also built products of our own, such as AraLith COS and AralithPulse: they show that we can take software from the idea to maintenance, not just deliver it. The journey of one of our projects is publicly documented in the MedicHub case study.

The choice between a software house, an agency and a freelancer depends on the project, and the honest answer is not always «us». For a standard brochure website an agency or a template costs less. Custom software makes sense when the process is specific, when integrations with existing systems are needed or when there are regulatory constraints. What we offer is continuity: code that is delivered, documented and can be picked up by anyone, so the software does not depend on a single person.

The code of custom-developed software stays yours, and it is written into the contract. We deliver the source code, the repository with the change history and the technical documentation, with full intellectual property. There is no lock-in: any other developer can pick up the work, and ongoing maintenance with us remains a choice, not an obligation.
